Pizza cost calculator

Work out what one pizza costs you, from dough, sauce, cheese, toppings and the box, and the price that gives you your target margin. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Set the box to 0 for dine-in pizzas. Price = pizza cost ÷ (1 − margin).

Costing your whole menu, not just pizza? The Recipe Cost Workbook keeps one ingredient price list for every recipe, handles kg/g, l/ml and dozen, and adds labor, packaging and overhead. $12, instant .xlsx download.

How it works

Dough = batch cost ÷ dough balls per batch. Sauce = price per kg × grams used ÷ 1000. Cheese = price per kg × grams used ÷ 1000. Add toppings and the box for the pizza cost, then divide by (1 − margin) for the price.

Worked example (the values above): dough is $6.00 ÷ 12 = $0.50. Sauce is $4.00 × 90 ÷ 1000 = $0.36. Cheese is $10.00 × 150 ÷ 1000 = $1.50. With $1.20 of toppings and a $0.60 box, the pizza costs $4.16. At a 70% margin the price is $4.16 ÷ 0.30 = $13.87, leaving $9.71 profit per pizza.

This covers ingredients and the box only. Staff time, oven fuel and rent come out of the margin, so set the margin with those in mind. See also the free recipe cost calculator and more calculators.
