Meal prep pricing calculator
Price a meal prep batch from what it really costs: ingredients, containers, your cooking time and delivery. You get the cost per meal and the price per meal at your target margin. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Count all the hours for a batch: shopping, cooking, portioning and cleaning. Price = cost per meal ÷ (1 − margin).
How it works
Ingredients per meal = ingredients per batch ÷ meals. Labor per meal = hours × hourly rate ÷ meals. Delivery per meal = delivery per batch ÷ meals. Cost per meal = ingredients + container + labor + delivery per meal. Price = cost per meal ÷ (1 − margin).
Worked example (the values above): ingredients are $84 ÷ 20 = $4.20 a meal. Labor is 3 × $18 = $54, or $2.70 a meal. Delivery is $30 ÷ 20 = $1.50 a meal. With a $0.45 container the cost is $4.20 + $0.45 + $2.70 + $1.50 = $8.85. At a 35% margin the price is $8.85 ÷ 0.65 = $13.62, leaving $4.77 a meal, or $95.31 across the batch of 20.
Your labor is in the cost, so the profit is on top of your wage. To get ingredient cost per batch from a recipe, use the free recipe cost calculator. See also more calculators.
