Coffee cost per cup calculator
Work out what one coffee drink costs you, from beans, milk, cup and syrup, and the price that gives you your target margin. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Set milk or syrup to 0 for an espresso or black coffee. Price = drink cost ÷ (1 − margin).
How it works
Coffee = bag price × grams per shot × shots ÷ bag size. Milk = price per litre × ml used ÷ 1000. Syrup = bottle price × ml used ÷ bottle size. Add the cup and lid for the drink cost, then divide by (1 − margin) for the price.
Worked example (the values above): coffee is $18 × 18 g × 2 ÷ 1000 g = $0.648. Milk is $1.60 × 200 ÷ 1000 = $0.32. Syrup is $9 × 10 ÷ 750 = $0.12. With a $0.15 cup and lid, the drink costs $1.238, about $1.24. At a 75% margin the price is $1.238 ÷ 0.25 = $4.95.
This covers ingredients and the cup only. Staff time, rent and machine costs come out of the margin, so set the margin with those in mind. See also the free recipe cost calculator and more calculators.
